Mickey still seizure free
Mickey still hasn't had a seizure. It's been over 7 months, the longest he's gone without one. We are really thankful.
He has been very clumsy, however, and once in a while he limps but not always on the same leg. It has us a little worried. The first time it happened we took him to the vet for x-rays but they saw nothing. It seems to clear itself up after a day or two. We are wondering if he's getting arthritus. Does anyone have a dog with it, and if so, what do you see as the symptoms? Thanks for any information.

Our Boston Terrier had a seizure yesterday. We had to go to the animal emergency. She is going to be fine but they are now going to put her on Phenol barbitol. Has anyone had any experiences with Boston Terrier's and seizure or any breed for that matter who is on PB for seizures? I'm a basket case over the recent occurence.
Mickey is on both Phenol barbitol and Potasium Bromide, both very common meds for seizures. We didn't want him on both, but one didn't do the trick. We were really worried when he started having seizures, but our vet said they are harder on us than on him. He had 3 in a row this past Christmas, and we took him back to the vet to get his blood levels checked. They said a lot of excitment can set off seizures, as well as new foods (we had a lot of company, and he got into some leftovers on the counter that he shouldn't have had). But generally the meds keep him nearly seizure free. It took nearly a year to get the levels of both meds correct, however, so don't stress if it takes a while. Mickey has been on both meds for four years now. They are a relief, as he used to have seizures about every 6 weeks. Now it's over a year between seizures.
